We serve on average more than 12,000 meals a year in our dining room. Since 1996, our pantry has helped more than 28,000 individuals in at least 11,400 households. We provide personal care, client needs, and school supplies to over 500 community members on an average annual basis. Our intake team meets individually with clients and either assists them directly or guides them to one of our 45 active partners who can assist them further with their needs.

In addition to providing educational workshops and forums for our clients, one of our primary goals is to personally and individually meet with the clients and access their needs and concerns. A proper plan of action is then developed and we provide direct service and/or refer clients to the necessary and appropriate community agencies. Therefore, in an effort of best facilitate this, Sisters Care Center has developed, strengthened, as well as increased, alliances with various community agencies.

What We Do

We show people the path to self-sufficiency by providing them a variety of compassionate programs. Under the leadership of Sr. Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz CSSF and a host of volunteers the building was transformed into an outreach center for the community – a center of love and acceptance for all who enter. Here, our thrift shop provides clothing; our dining feeds the hungry; the chapel provides spiritual warmth; and our food pantry stretch our families’ thin budgets. Through prayer, silence and listening, God directs us. We step out in faith and respond with a compassionate presence and accompaniment.

Our Story

When St. Adalbert’s parish school was closed in 1985, our community was gripped with grief, frustration, and a deep fear for the future. In their anxiety, many of our people sought an answer through prayer. It became abundantly clear that the choices were not ours; that He was giving us direction! We responded. Twenty-four hours after the school closing, June 26, 1985, the Response To Love Center was born. Here, the focus is the holistic treatment of poverty: loving care of the economically deprived, the spiritually poor, the emotionally battered, the isolated, the wounded and the broken.

Our Values

Service to All

We operate as a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental community – seeking to meet each person, whoever they are, as they are. We embrace difference and adapt an interpersonal stance that is open to the other, especially as it relates to the aspects of identity that matter most to them.

We honor all people and treat them with dignity. We are responsive, empathetic, and compassionate – taking the time to know each person and valuing their unique strengths and contributions.

We believe that life is a learning journey and that knowledge is a tool of empowerment. We recognize that we are blessed to walk alongside others, serving as mentor, advocate, and guide, as they develop new understanding and skills that will take them wherever they want to go.

We seek opportunities to support others so that they may accept any challenge set before them and make the decisions necessary to reach their fullest potential. We feed and sustain them while encouraging them to find strength and resolve within themselves.
